Want to create a website or app for the collective good? Join us at Hackdefy from August 14-16! Signing up with a team is strongly encouraged, but if you don't have one at the moment, we'll make one for you! There is no pressure for teams to submit a project at the end of the day, we just want everybody to have fun. Happy Hacking!

Eligibility

  • Countries: United States and it's territories 
  • Participants: Every member of a team or individual participant must be between the age of 13 to 18 years
  • Teams may have up to 4 people

Requirements

Project Requirements:

  1. Register and create a product to solve one of our 3 tracks: (currently secret!) . Hackers may submit to only ONE track.
  2. All ideas and most code must be yours! Give credit where credit is due for APIs, etcs.
  3. Applications produced within the hackathon's time. 

Submit the following materials: 

  1. A demo video (linked through your Devpost submission on YouTube). Your video should include a demo of your application, an explanation of why it is needed/important, and how it fits into your track if you applied under one. The video does not need to be over 3 minutes long. 
  2. A completed submission form on Devpost before the deadline.

Judging Criteria

  • Creativity
    How creative and unique is the project? Is the idea innovative? Did the group members “think outside the box?”
  • Feasibility
    How feasible is the project? Is it realistic? Do you see this project actually being used?
  • Presentation
    How well designed is the application? Is it easy to understand and use? Does it look clean, professional, and well polished? Is it functional?
  • Relevance
    Is the project relevant to current issues? Will it help resolve current problems? Will it remain relevant?
  • Sustainability
    How sustainable is the project? Will it be able to adapt to changing circumstances? Do you see this project still used in future years or will it become outdated?
  • Technical complexity
    How technically impressive is the project? Was it simple to make or did the team members have to struggle in order to get it to work?
  • Usefulness
    How useful is the solution? Is it going to help with the problem addressed? Is it relevant to the theme? Do you see the project being used?
